Garry Masters Rattan saw its humble beginnings in 1965 when Garry Masters himself recognized a need in the market place for quality and innovative Rattan furniture.

Sensing a market opportunity and with a good eye for design, he opened the first retail store in Chapel Street in Melbourne with products imported from the Philippines.

This concept proved so successful with the clientelle in the area that it persuaded Garry to move into the import / wholesale market.

While Garry Masters relinquished control of the company in the mid 70's, the name has continued to be held in the same high esteem within the market place as in the early days.

Over the next 15 years, control of the Company passed through many hands, ranging from private individuals to professional investors.

By the late 80's the company was beginning to lose steam at which time a new group of investors purchased Garry Masters Rattan and set about re-building the name.

Radical changes to product development, sales & marketing concepts and customer service practices saw the company grow over the next 5 years to reach heights never before enjoyed. So much so that it was necessary to expand, and an Office and Warehouse were set up in Brisbane to keep up with demand. With the introduction of the Brisbane operation, work within the Commercial sector became a large focus.

At the height of this new success, the 90's brought about a whole new set of challenges. We survived the crash of the Australian Dollar, survived the infamous Patrick's wharf strike and survived a fire that totally destroyed the Melbourne Warehouse and Factory.

With a strong sense of determination, these challenges only made our resolve stronger. We were not prepared to let anything stand in our way.

Finally in July 2004, Garry Masters Rattan was acquired by Agio Shian International (Dist.) P/L who saw a great opportunity to amalgamate this well known brand into their family of successful Companies. This amalgamation now sees us as one of the largest Wholesalers of Indoor / Outdoor Furniture in Australasia.

With the continued growth of the brand name, we have also continued to expand our range of furniture over the years. Not only can we can furnish every room in the house, we also offer a range of casual Outdoor furniture. We currently source the best quality products from suppliers across Indonesia, Vietnam and China.
